The Kuala Lumpur National Textile Museum is located at Jalan Sultan Hishamuddin, Kuala Lumpur, in the middle of the Dayabumi building and the Sultan Abdul Samad building. The museum has officially opened in January 2010 with a collection and historical origins of the textile industry in our country. The museum is divided into 4 major categories : Galeri Pelangi, Galeri Pohon Budi, Galeri Ratna Sari and Galeri Teluk Berantai.




Galeri Pelangi

The gallery displays a collection of heritage clothing and accessories in the Chinese community, as well as collections of Baba and Nyonya ethnic Sarawak and Sabah.





Galeri Pohon Budi

This gallery exhibit of textile history from the pre history up to the day of development of textile through trading. It also displays the equipment, materials and traditional techniques of textile manufacturing.
 




Galeri ratna Sari

This gallery displays the jewellery and personal adornment various ethnic groups in Malaysia. Among others, such as crowns, pemeleh, bun sticks, pendant and pending which are made of materials as gold, silver, copper, beads and various other materials.






Galeri Teluk Berantai

This gallery displays the Malay heritage collections such as embroidery, kelingkan, woven fabrics, limar, embroidered fabrics, and various types of clothing.







The museum is open daily from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm; except Hari Raya Puasa and Hari Raya Haji public holidays.
