Vase making, Kuching, Sarawak

Location : Kuching

One of the famous thing or souvenir among the tourist in Sarawak is the hand-made vase, made of clay and ceramics; with beautiful and unique hand-made design/craft. I can remember this vase factory that we visited name, but it is in the town of Kuching, Sarawak.
Ceramics vase and pot are very similar with the Sarawakian that use it as a must in any traditional ceremonies or fiesta, like the Gawai day or wedding.
Beside vase and pot, the art of pottery has been widen to ashtray, home decoration etc.

My mum and cousin tried to make this, too. but unfortunately no pic because i was busy recording the funny video of them making the vase. From the photo above, you can see the far right one is the one mum made. *spot the faulty formation* LOL

Cat Museum / Muzium Kucing, Kuching Sarawak

Location : Kuching north city hall, across the river in Petra Jaya

The Kuching Cat Museum is a cat museum in Kuching, Sarawak, Malaysia and is a reflection of Kuching's own name ( kuching is 'cat' in Malay). It was founded in 1993 and owned by the Kuching North City Hall (DBKU). it contain a collection of all kinds of feline memorabilia, along with displays detailing the evolution and natural history of the cat family, and the development of the different breeds of domestic cat. There are 2000 exhibits, artifacts, statues about cats from all over the world. The museum covers an area of 1,035.9 square meters in a hill overviewing Kuching called Bukit Siol. In 1987, the first cat show took place in Kuala Lumpur. On August 1, the same exhibition took place in Kuching. According to Malaysian and Chinese beliefs, the cat is a lucky animal.



beside cats, there are also few things/documentation on Sarawak histories and cultures.
