Little Penang Street Market is a monthly market which takes place on the last Sunday of each month,10 am to 5pm in Upper Penang Road. The street market began on July 2006 and has become established as a major venue for the showcasing of Penang’s culture and creativity.

The Little Penang Street Market is a non-profit market, run by a volunteer committee, under the auspices of the Penang Arts Council. It combines some 70 craft stalls with food, live performances in The Space, visual arts, children’s activities, hands-on demonstrations and book readings. The booth and performances are different for every month, depending on the volunteers and performers. The next market is on Sunday, 27th July 2010 and it’s going to celebrate its 4th anniversary.

Padang Besar, Perlis

Padang Besar is one of the areas in Perlis which borders southern Thailand. Here, there is the last station before the train in northern Malaysia to Thailand. In addition to Wang Kelian, Padang Besar is one tourist for shopping in Perlis. A wide range of products available here, from traditional goods, to clothes, foods and household items, as well as souvenirs. Besides there are also free-duty shops here.

Amcorp Mall free market open on Saturday and Sunday; from 9.00 am until 5.00 pm. This is one of the flea market recommended by most collector for antique, coin, vintage and collectibles item. You can also found food item, dress, jewelery, craft and other stuff in this market.

Pekan Rabu, Alor Setar, Kedah

"Pekan Rabu" which literally means Wednesday Market which is located in the middle of Alor Setar is well known among the local population and tourists from outside Kedah. The business complex is not only the pride of Malay entreprenuers in Kedah but also the pride of all Malay's in Kedah. Moreover the fourth Malaysian Prime Minister, Tun Dr. Mahathir, once was a trader in Pekan Rabu. Most tourists visiting Alor Setar make it a point to shop around at the Pekan Rabu Complex.

Wang Kelian, Perlis

The village, is located about 40km from Kangar and is surrounded by pretty limestone hills. It attracts many visitors because of its weekend market which straddles the Thai-Malaysian border. The newly formed Perlis State Park is also located nearby.

There is also a border crossing between Malaysia and Thailand at Wang Kelian. The Thai checkpoint is called Wang Prachan and is 32km from Satun.

There is a market everyday but what makes it unique is that on Sundays, the border is thrown open and visitors can visit the Thai section of the market without needing passports. You can walk across the border without getting your passports stamped but you have to stay within the market area. The market basically lines the Wang Kelian-Satun road, stretching about 1km on both sides of the border. The items on sale include cheap clothing, household stuff and food, many of the made in Thailand.

Ferringhi Night Market, Penang

if u go to batu ferringhi on the day for some watersport, u are welcome again to ferringhi on the night for some shopping. there are a lot of stalls along the hotels at ferringhi beach selling variety of stuffs like fake/branded handbags, purses and wallets, tshirts, watches, batiks, souvenirs, crafts, as well as dvds. the night flea market opens everyday and on weekend nights, they open earlier and close later. if u find something u like, make sure u ask for the lowest price (state the price u want) first. that's the important tip when buying anything here.

Central Market, Kuala Lumpur

Who lives in KL but haven't been to Central Market (CM) for quite a long time? I think it's about you to change your mind and spend some of your free time there. Me, myself hadn't go there for at least 3 to 4 years and, it changed a lot. Much better at the inside; but maybe not at the outside.

Central Market which is situated at Jalan Hang Kasturi was built in 1888 by the British. It was an open wet market. (Mum went to the wet market to buy vege, fish etc. when she was younger as well). But somewhere in 1970s, there were plan to demolish the building but the Malaysia Heritage Society petitioned against it and to preserve history and the building. They succeed and the site was declared as a 'Heritage Site'.

Traditional handcrafts like batik (hand painted clothing), rattan and bamboo products or Wau (huge Malay kites) and lots of traditional handcrafts can be easily found here.

Other than that, you can also create handcrafts with your photos on mugs or plates, button badges, write something to your beloved one on a metal plat, plate, wooden key-chain, printing photos on t-shirt and lots more.

And one thing I have always remember about Central Market is the "Seniman Jalanan".

Many modes of transportation are available; take the Putra Line Rail Transit (LRT) and get off at the Pasar Seni station, or take a cab and travel a direct route to Central Market. Waste no more time and make Central Market your next destination by heading over to Jalan Kasturi, Kuala Lumpur .
